Education
The Chiefdom is promoting both the formal and informal education by using the existing schools, all government aided schools. The schools lack most of the scholarstic materials needed for a conducive reading environment. The Chiefdom is working together with the local and district authorities to see how these gaps can be covered. The Chiefdom working together with partners, stakeholders and well wishers hopes to bring in desks for the pupils who study on the floor, buy text and exercise books as well as shoes for the pupils. It is disheartening in the 21st Century to continue see children going barefooted to school and sitting on the floor in classrooms.
The Chiefdom is working together with the Headteachers, local and district authorities to instill discipline in schools among pupils and teachers and to encourage the culture of reading among the pupils and teachers as well. The pupils of the Chiefdom are among, if not the worst performing pupils in Uganda. Informal education is highly encouraged on how the young should behave towards elders and accord them the African traditional respect of the youths to elders. Mothers are encouraged to train and educate the girl child to grow up into a responsible woman and fathers are encouraged to train the boys as well. This action is beginning to promote discipline among the children in homes within the Chiefdom.
The Chiefdom has identified one Girl Secondary School and four primary schools that it is working with to improve performance of education in the Chiefdom and the district.
The Schools the Chiefdom is working with are:
- A Secondary School, St. Peter’s College Warr Girls Secondary School
- Juloka Primary School
- Lwala Primary School
- Kango Primary School
- Warr Public Primary School
